Did You Know...?
In the last two years, through innovative consultation and design and without sacrificing form or function, we saved project Owners more than $500,000. In nearly every case, the savings exceeded our fee on the project and the Owner received a better project.

... "Is Wireless The Answer?"
Wireless Microphone Receiver Rack
As a technologically advanced society we have gotten spoiled with wireless technology, almost to the point of expecting a world free of the “mucky muck” - (who remembers Spinal Tap?). We often hear the request “Let’s just use wireless.” But is that always the best choice? How to answer that question – the same way we answer almost every question in AV and Technology: “It depends.”

Before jumping in and deciding on a solution, there are some limitations that need to be considered. No matter what is being transmitted, be it audio, video, or data, there will always be the question of reliability. There are far more variables that impact the reliability of a wireless piece of equipment than the equivalent wired equipment. Interference from other wireless sources can interrupt audio signals and even render it unusable; building structures can block signals; batteries can run out, the list goes on. Plus, wireless doesn’t always mean completely without wires. Wireless speakers still require power. Where will the power outlets be?

One of the most significant limitations of wireless is the increased cost in equipment, design, system set up time, maintenance, etc. Ultimately the Owner
will need to decide the importance of the wireless systems’ reliability. It’s our responsibility to advise what is necessary to achieve that level of reliability and what kind of costs the Owner can expect.

This is not to suggest that wireless systems are a bad idea or that they should only be considered for a project with an extensive budget. Some applications, without a doubt, require some form of wireless technology. But remember that there’s far more involved than just “making it wireless.”
