We rely heavily on our computers and their resident software to aid us in our consulting and design. However, we are well aware that innovation and creativity comes from our brains not our computers. Computers help us develop your designs and produce your drawings quicker, but they can't think for us. They allow us to simulate the result of the solutions we develop and allow us to make adjustments as required to attain the desired end result. They allow us to drastically shorten our search and research time, so we can determine what has been tried before and whether or not it was successful. They allow us to determine the cost versus effectiveness of alternative solutions and allow us to take a solution to fruition.
Computer modeling and simulation are fantastic time savers. We employ modeling software for developing solutions to architectural acoustic problems, such as room acoustics, sound insulation, impact noise isolation, etc. and for investigating and mitigating environmental noise problems. We utilize computer-aided design (CAD) software to produce systems designs (drawings), e.g., for the sound, AV, IT, telecommunication, performance lighting, stage machinery, and stage rigging system designs we develop.
Each office has its own LAN and the two offices are connected via a WAN that implements VPN for real-time, site-to-site collaboration. In other words, although the offices are physically separated by more than 3,000 miles, we are connected on a nearly real-time basis. Knowledge, information, data, files, and drawings are rapidly shared between offices so we can draw from the vast pool of knowledge and experience of the entire engineering staff.
