| Environmental Noise | Yes. Noise is an environmental pollutant. However, unlike other pollutants, noise must be measured when it occurs, since it leaves no residue or particulates that can be measured at a later time.
Our experience in environmental noise pollution control projects consists of developing engineered solutions for quieting existing noise sources, like industrial facilities, rooftop mechanical equipment, roadways, etc., and predicting and developing solutions to potential noise pollution problems before they occur.
Many of our projects are environmental noise assessment studies where our noise assessments and noise abatement and control recommendations become an integral part of a federal or state required environmental impact study (EIS). Examples of our experience in environmental noise projects are:
- Environmental noise assessment studies for planned new or existing highways, housing developments, commercial developments, industrial plants, construction sites (pile driving, excavating, blasting, etc.), and airports.
- Noise impact studies, consisting of noise assessment, noise impact evaluation, and the development of noise mitigation. These studies are typically conducted in compliance with federal and state EIS guidelines and standards.
- Investigations of ground-borne and structure-borne vibration assessments.
- Long and short term environmental noise monitoring.
- Environmental acoustics including the design of noise barriers, and for stationary sources, noise enclosures.
